۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
