Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
