The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
