The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
