Hizb 46
< random >
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you judge? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace is upon the Noble Messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
