The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches; 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
