Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
