The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
