Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ NAY! I call to witness this land 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
