The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
