The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
