He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
