The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
