There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 And We make therein gardens of palms and grapevines and We make springs to flow forth in it, 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto whereon they ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 It is only by Our mercy that they are granted provision for a time. 44 And when it is said to them, 'Fear what is before you and what is behind you; haply you will find mercy' -- 45 and no message of their Sustainer's messages ever reaches them without their turning away from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They also say: 'When will this promise be, if what you say is true' 48 They await but one Shout, which will surprise them while they are disputing. 49 Then they will not be able to make bequest, nor they will return to their family. 50
