The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful One 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He created man 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
