The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
