Noah (Nooh)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 ‘So that you may tread the wide roads in it.’” 20
