He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 you ignore him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
