The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
