The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
