Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 And linen spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
