Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
