And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 and the fish swallowed him while he was blaming himself. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 We glorify God." 166 What, would they then say: 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
