Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the clear Book, 2 Behold, from on high have We bestowed it on a blessed night: for, verily, We have always been warning [man]. 3 Therein every wise affair is made distinct, 4 As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers), 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Nay, but they play in doubt. 9 Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment. 11 Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". 12 How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, 13 but then they turned away from him, saying: 'He is tutored, mad' 14 We shall remove the torment for a while but you will revert to your old ways. 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ We had certainly tested the people of the Pharaoh before them to whom a noble Messengers had come, saying, 17 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. 18 Do not set yourselves above God: I bring you clear authority. 19 And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death. 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". 22 (His Lord answered): 'Set out with My worshipers in the night, for you will surely be followed. 23 And leave the sea becalmed; they are a drowned host.' 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 And cornfields and noble places! 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 Thus it was; and We made another people inherit all that. 28 So the heavens and the earth did not weep for them, and they were not given respite. 29
