The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
