Al-Najm 3 of 3
Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 Thamud, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
