The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
