Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
