The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people together 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
