The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 But he would not try to ascend the steep uphill road... 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 an orphaned relative 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
