And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
