۞ When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)! 57 And they say: are our gods better, or is he? They mention him not to thee save for disputation. Aye! they are a people contentious. 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 And if We please, We could make among you angels to be successors in the land. 60 AND, BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a means to know [that] the Last Hour [is bound to come]; hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this [alone] is a straight way. 61 And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me. 63 "For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way." 64 But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day. 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 All intimate friends on that day will become each others enemies except for the pious, 67
