Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a high garden 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
