Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 rain from the sky, 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
