The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Purify your inner self, 4 Pollution shun! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
