The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
