The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day resplendent 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
