The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
