And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
