The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the star when it sets: 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
