The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
