The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
