▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 We brought them Our signs, and they turned away from them. 81 They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely; 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Stretch not thine eyes to that We have given pairs of them to enjoy; and do not sorrow for them, and lower thy wing unto the believers, 88 And say: "I am a distinct warner," 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 concerning that they were doing. 93 Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 and those who set up other gods with Allah, indeed, they will soon know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
