The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In parchment spread open 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
