The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
