The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 The closing night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
