The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
