Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
