Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 About the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
