Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
